Last Fast Sunday in Ghana

Elder Meinzer attended the last meeting with the state presidency and they were able to get a lot accomplished. After the meeting, the president said, "Elder Meinzer, I want to tilapia you." "Umm...ok." So he took them out to get fried rice and tilapia and the tilapia was over a foot long and delicious. The president thanked Elder Meinzer for the work he has done.

Yesterday was the last Fast Sunday on his mission. Elder Meinzer said that Fast Sundays at home will be a cake compared to in Ghana because he won't have to be walking around under the scorching sun. The purpose of his fast was one of gratitude. He just wanted to thank Heavenly Father for being able to serve a mission and for all the of the experiences he has had.

Yesterday he was reading in the Book of Mormon and read in Ether 12:6 where it says, "ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith." He then read 3 Nephi 26:11, "I will try the faith of my people." and Doctrine and Covenants 58:4, "After much tribulation comes the blessings." He felt like all those scriptures were speaking to him. The past 5-6 months have been really hard because they have been going out and doing all that they could to find investigators, but nothing had been working out. It was frustrating. But recently the Lord has blessed them abundantly. Eight of their investigators have baptismal dates. Nana, Ransford, Frederick and his daughter, Affran. Elder Meinzer is very excited he will be there for their baptisms. On April 22, the week before his companion goes home, they will have another baptism for Kojo, Rosina, Joseph and Joyce.

"My testimony of prayer has definitely increased as I've been on my mission."
